Meet Brendan and Nicole who recently completed their dream home project, complete with a serene, stylish pool area retreat. “We wanted to create a space that could be used for entertaining while also creating a tranquil space for us to use for our own leisure. We lacked privacy from our neighbours, and we needed a height-compliant boundary and pool fence. So, we decided to use ModularWalls to solve for the above whilst also creating a feature wall for the pool area.”
Creating a Hamptons retreat
Simple, clean lines and modern design inspired the vision for the backyard. To complement their Hamptons-inspired home, Brendan and Nicole engaged trusted landscape designer Surround Landscape Design along with landscapers Wolf and Willow.

“Our new ModularWalls fence has actually given us a really good sense of privacy when we’re in the pool area and relaxing with the family. It gave us a lot more acoustic privacy as well, which is really good and unexpected because we actually just wanted it for the visual side of things, but it also had that added benefit of the soundproofing.”

The key privacy concern for Brendan and Nicole was their neighbour’s above-ground pool and elevated deck, which offered a direct line of sight into their backyard. The existing metal fence provided little seclusion, making the area feel exposed. Happily, through consultation with their neighbours, Brendan and Nicole achieved a great result with ModularWalls.
“Our neighbour has an above-ground pool with a deck area around it so with the previous Colourbond fence we could see them and their guests standing on the deck as they were about to jump into or get out of their pool. We actually worked together with them to get that ModularWalls solution. Even though they’re really close, we can’t hear much of anything on their end. They’re really happy with the end result, and so are we.”
With two dogs, the reduction in external noise was a game-changer. The newly installed walls helped cultivate a calmer environment, appreciated by both the pets and owners alike.

“ModularWalls were very much aligned to our style and aesthetic. We’ve gone with a Hampton style house, which is very monochrome. It was great that ModularWalls could be painted any colour we wanted, we went for something nice and bright. It matches the render of our house and has come up really well.”
