Mainbrace Constructions contacted ModularWalls for a custom designed acoustic solution to shield residents in adjoining properties from the noise of a highly patronised Coles loading dock in Kellyville that operates through to midnight. Two different AcoustiMax acoustic fence solutions provided the perfect solution.
With a mandatory density requirement set by an acoustic engineer and the prerequisite that the acoustic fence had to be affixed to the top of the pre-cast concrete structure, good design, engineering, wind loading, and fixing method was paramount. Due to site typography and the potential difficulty of painting the wall following installation meant the fence panels would need to be pre-finished.
Across the 3 construction stages, more than 127 metres of SlimWall acoustic fence system deemed most suitable for this project. When incorporated with AcoustiMax50 panels a noise reduction of 20 +dB is achieved and ensured sufficient noise attenuation for neighbouring residents. In addition, GuardianWall was used including 900mm concrete sleepers for retaining.
The SlimWall acoustic fence was affixed along the ridge of the grey concrete block wall via core receptors drilled at minimum 100mm providing exceptional strength and stability. The pre-finished panels allowed for a faster and more cost effective installation.
The customer was exceptionally pleased with the finished acoustic fence, particularly impressed by the organic nature of the extension, rather than a retrofitted look.
