The Block Mt Eliza: Five Coastal Homes, One Considered Finish

For the first time in The Block’s history, the homes have coastal views. Set in Mount Eliza on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the 2026 season called for outdoor spaces that made the most of their setting while still feeling private, comfortable and ready for everyday life.

The Block Mt Eliza: Design brief

Judge Darren Palmer described the brief as a particular kind of luxury: “refined, comfortable, liveable”. In a location where entertaining and outdoor living matter so much, every detail beyond the interior needed to feel as considered as the home itself.  Darren shares “The luxury is in the lifestyle and the ability to live comfortably in a home with guests and entertaining friends.“

TrendWall®: the ultimate choice for coastal living

TrendWall® was installed as boundary and poolside fencing across all five homes. Our patented corrosive-resistant aluminium posts were selected for the coastal setting; the walls provide privacy and a clean backdrop for the outdoor entertaining areas. Houses 1, 2 and 5 show how that same foundation can support three very different looks.

House 1: Adam and Jolene’s poolside entertaining space

Adam and Jolene made entertaining the focus of House 1. A timber deck wraps around the pool, connecting sun loungers with an outdoor kitchen, barbecue and pizza oven. An island with bar stools gives guests a place to gather close to the water, while mosaic detailing adds a subtle finish to the pool.

The pale TrendWall® boundary sits behind the loungers and planting, giving the pool area a sense of privacy without competing with the home’s layered materials. It helps the space feel complete, whether it is being used for an afternoon swim or a long lunch outdoors.

House 2: Chantel and Wyatt’s relaxed coastal retreat

House 2 takes a softer approach to poolside living. Warm timber decking, palms and pale furniture create an easy coastal feel, with sage striped cushions adding a gentle hint of colour. Loungers by the pool invite slower afternoons, while the covered dining area looks out towards the water.

House 5: Rick and Tayla’s Mediterranean inspired space

Rick and Tayla brought a different energy to House 5. Stone, timber and olive trees give the backyard a Mediterranean feel, while a covered outdoor kitchen and dining space opens towards the pool. Beside the water, a curved concrete table and bench introduce an organic shape to the design.

The TrendWall® boundary provides a calm backdrop to these stronger architectural details. It defines the poolside dining area and creates privacy, while allowing the stonework, curves and greenery to remain the focal points.

One wall system, five outdoor styles

Each team interpreted Mount Eliza’s coastal lifestyle differently. Adam and Jolene created a place to host. Chantel and Wyatt leaned into laid-back poolside living.  Rick and Tayla combined sculptural details with a warm Mediterranean palette.

And across all five homes, TrendWall® does more than mark the boundary. It helps frame the spaces where people will swim, gather, dine and unwind. That balance of privacy, practical function and a considered finish is what makes an outdoor area feel like part of the home.
