TV personality Shaynna Blaze has transformed a 120-year-old weatherboard in Kyneton, Victoria, into a peaceful rural escape, with a little help from ModularWalls.
Best known for her role on The Block, Shaynna shares her renovation journey in Channel 9’s Country Home Rescue. Watch the video to see how Shaynna Blaze customises our VogueWall to create a peaceful, private, character-filled country garden.
Shaynna Blaze creates a forever home
While initially bought to flip, Shaynna Blaze fell in love with the run-down two-storey home’s old-world charm, envisioning it as a tranquil retreat for herself and her family. So, this ambitious project involved a full restoration of the original house and a separate, modern addition. Plus, between the two is the garden where Shaynna and her children will entertain, grow vegetables, and tend to their beehives.
Indoor – outdoor living
A crucial part of completing the renovation was the backyard and boundary walls. The garden wall solution ensures privacy and also defines the alfresco entertaining areas. It was also important to Shaynna to create visual cohesion between the old and new sections of the home. And as the house is close to the main road, noise-reducing qualities were also on Shaynna’s wish list, which VogueWall offers.

VogueWall: The versatile solution
As a professional designer, Shaynna immediately knew that ModularWalls would offer the creative freedom she needed to bring her country garden vision to life.
‘I’ve gone for the VogueWall because it looks like a traditional fence with pillars, but it’s super-versatile,’ she says.
A smart alternative to masonry, VogueWall’s panel and post design visually link the heritage and contemporary elements of Shaynna’s garden. Her clever use of colour creates an inviting flow between the interiors and outdoor entertaining areas. One wall, painted black, recedes into the background, while the other is picture-perfect in white and grey tones. At the same time, Shaynna added her design flair with customised finishes. The ability to personalise the look was one of the reasons she selected VogueWall. Along with integrated lighting, she’s included a trellis infill along the top of the walls to grow ivy through.
Why does Shaynna Blaze love her VogueWall? More space, less noise
ModularWalls offers a range of practical benefits to enhance the liveability of outdoor spaces. For example, the lightweight panels don’t need wide trip footings, simplifying installation and providing more usable outdoor space. As a result, Shaynna maximises the noise reduction benefits by placing the VogueWall as close to the road as possible.
‘This really reduces traffic noise, which means I can peacefully work in my veggie patch and hear my bees at the same time.’
She also loves that the sound reduction benefits work both ways. Shaynna can enjoy living and entertaining in her new garden without disturbing the neighbours.
‘Great fences mean great neighbours.’
