Seasoned renovators and The Block stars Andy and Deb know a thing or two about creating standout curb appeal. Here they share how ModularWalls played a starring role in transforming this Queenslander into the most stylish home on the street.

Curb appeal at Unearthed

When they appeared on The Block in 2019, Andy and Deb wowed the judges and TV audiences alike with their gorgeous designs. Now they’re doing it all again with their own online show, ‘DnA of Design’. The show takes viewers through whole home reno projects, and the dynamic duo share their product, design and styling tips along the way.

House 02, which they named ‘Unearthed’, was dated and mismatched, with no street presence. So, the owners reached out to Andy and Deb to completely refresh the home, inside and out. They wanted a more functional layout and a new-look façade for that all-important curb appeal.

Natural beauty

Because the home is set among towering gums and bushland, Andy and Deb focused on showcasing natural materials and earthy finishes. To achieve this, they opened up the interiors, creating free-flowing spaces that capture the beauty of the surrounding landscape. A neutral palette featuring sandstone, polished marble and pale timber delivers a cohesive, calm ambience.

Then, once the interiors were complete, Andy and Deb turned their attention to designing an inviting exterior with masses of curb appeal. Next, they refreshed the home’s street frontage, removing dated bay windows, adding a veranda, and painting the weatherboards white. The result? Classic Queenslander charm.

EstateWall delivers privacy and curb appeal

Since first impressions count, Andy and Deb wanted an impressive entryway to set the scene for the home.  Deb explains due to the exposure to the street, they needed a fencing solution offering privacy and a high-end aesthetic. EstateWall, which replicates the traditional grandeur of a rendered masonry wall with its solid profile and wide piers, ticked all the boxes.

‘Privacy was at the forefront of our decision-making when choosing the EstateWall as it was needed to create a long-term solution for the house being so visible from the road,’ Deb says. We also wanted the fence to look amazing and blend with the look of the exterior.’

The stunning, gently curved 1.8 metre high EstateWall with flush wall capping and post tops frames the driveway entrance perfectly. While painting the front wall ‘Alpine White’ to match the home ensures instant curb appeal. As a result, the EstateWall sits beautifully against the sweeping lawns and muted greenery of the bushland beyond. Finally, Andy and Deb use oversized pots and vibrant plants to accessorise the wall.

Unsurprisingly, Andy and Deb have fallen in love with the simplicity, beauty and instant curb appeal of EstateWall.

‘It’s so quick to install, and we could paint it to work with the exterior of the house and the landscaping. So now we are always thinking about where we can use EstateWall in our projects!’ Deb says.

‘Overall, we’re delighted with the contemporary design, easy installation process, and wonderful customer service.’
