A BUPA Aged Care facility at an intersection of 3 busy roads in St Ives, NSW, required a noise barrier to shield their calming garden oasis from traffic noise.
The noise wall needed to aesthetically harmonise with the development’s timber batten cladding and provide retaining capabilities for the garden beds. However, restricted access to the site limited their options.
A custom combination of EstateWall and VogueWall, with attached palisade fencing, provided a visually striking noise barrier that delivered architectural harmony with the facility. Reaching heights between 2.5m – 3.3m, the design used different custom-sized posts that stepped in and out along the boundary, mirroring the appearance of brick piers.
The incorporation of TerraFirmX retaining panels provided a seamlessly integrated 1.2m high retaining solution, supporting the lush garden beds of the relaxation space. The modular system, combined with lightweight materials, provided an easy installation that overcame the challenges of restricted site access.
By choosing ModularWalls’ alternative solution, the client could save substantial costs on a premium product without compromising aesthetics or acoustic performance and achieve a timber batten feature.
Residents of the aged care facility will now be protected from the multiple sources of road noise and enjoy a visually appealing backdrop in their calming meditation garden.
