Noise barrier with timber batten features for Bupa St Ives
20 June 2018
A new BUPA Aged Care facility at an intersection of 3 busy roads in St Ives, NSW, required a noise barrier to shield their calming garden oasis from traffic noise. The noise wall needed to aesthetically harmonise with the development’s timber batten cladding and provide retaining capabilities for the garden beds, but restricted access to the site limited their options.
A custom combination of EstateWall and VogueWall, with attached palisade fencing, provided a visually striking noise barrier that delivered architectural harmony with the facility.
Reaching heights between 2.5m – 3.3m, the design used different custom-sized posts stepped in and out along the boundary that mirrored the appearance of brick piers.
Incorporation of TerraFirmX retaining panels provided a seamlessly integrated 1.2m high retaining solution, easily supporting the lush garden beds of the relaxation space within.
The modular system, combined with lightweight materials, provided an easy installation that overcame the challenges of restricted site access.
By choosing ModularWalls’ alternative solution, the client was able to save a substantial percentage of costs on a premium product, without compromising on aesthetics or acoustic performance.
Residents of the aged car facility will now be protected from the multiple sources of road noise and enjoy a visually appealing backdrop in their calming meditation garden.
