Iplex manufacturing uses innovative AcoustiSorb® panels for external sound room

29 April 2016

Based in a busy industrial hub in Chipping Norton, NSW, iPlex is the largest Australian owned and operated pipe and fittings manufacturing businesses in Australia. When they needed a noise attenuation enclosure around an industrial granulator, they turned to the leaders in noise abatement solution, ModularWalls. In effect, iPlex required an external sound room to shield excessive noise from machinery located inside the factory.

ModularWalls recommended a 10600mm wide x 7300mm long x 4000mm high structure with a 9.4 metre opening to one side that utilised their innovative and proprietary 75mm sound absorbing panel, AcoustiSorb. AcoustiSorb composite panels can be placed vertically to create a room in which machinery noise is insulated. Each panel has a perforated face to absorb sound waves within its core material, resulting in an NRC rating > 0.9. The pre-finish ‘surf mist’ white coloured panels ensured there was no requirement for painting following installation and aesthetically provided a superior finish. ModularWalls managed the entire process from concept drawings, detailed design and engineering through to installation, making for a seamless process for the client who was delighted by the final construction and noise abatement result.
