As part of the Wendouree Shopping Centre expansion project, Maben Group engaged ModularWalls for a bespoke acoustic fencing solution. Combining commercial-grade noise attenuation with premium residential aesthetics, SlimWall delivered the whole package; with substantial time and cost savings to boot.
The expansion of Wendouree Shopping Centre
Maben Group was appointed the prized contract for the expansion of Wendouree Shopping Centre. Working closely with Stockland and i2C Design & Management, the project included a new Woolworths and BWS, specialty shops, casual dining restaurants and expanded parking capabilities.
However, whilst this was a cultural highlight for the community, the developers wanted to protect surrounding residential zones from the increased traffic noise caused by the new loading docks and car parks.
Whilst needing commercial acoustic performance, the specified solution needed to offer residential aesthetics; the developers were wary of introducing a cumbersome, industrial-looking structure for residents. With additional retaining requirements, on top of an already expansive project, cost was also an important consideration.
SlimWall acoustic fencing
As it has done many times before, SlimWall delivered the perfect combination of performance, strength and beautiful design.
The noise attenuation specifications were comfortably achieved, utilising proprietary AcoustiMax panels. Compared to other noise attenuation panels on the Australian market, AcoustiMax offers high acoustic performance at a very competitive price point, making it a popular choice for the likes of Coles, Dan Murhpy’s, ALDI, McDonald’s and KFC.
Responding to their retaining requirements, the acoustic fence also seamlessly integrated TerraFirm retaining panels into the fence design, saving the client substantial costs associated with a separate retaining walls.
Due to its innovative modular construction, the entire 130m length of fencing was completed in only 10 days. The simplicity of the post and panel system was an added benefit for the client, perfectly slotting into their tight build schedule with minimal site disturbance or waste.
Finally, the SlimWall fence panels delivered a premium, smooth finish that was simply finished with exterior paint to harmonise with the development’s overall architectural values.
